The AFM RCA was established in formed in 1956 from the scattering of members who had moved from lady Selbourne, a location towards the North West of the city of Pretoria, as a result of the forced removals laws of the time. Three groups of members from what was then called the Leratong A.F.M Assembly were scattered to the locations of Mamelodi, Atteridgeville and Walmarans (which is now called Soshanguve).

The first leaders of the Assembly included Elder J Ramaila, Elder D. Malahlela and J Mabena. Elder J. Mabena was appointed to lead the church from 1958 to 1964. He was succeeded by Pastor J Sithole who led the church from 1965 to 1975. In 1976, the Assembly welcomed Pastor Samuel Ndala who presided and led the assembly for thirty nine (39) years i.e. from 1976 to 2015. Due to his passion in missions, Ps Ndala placed the Assembly into a missional journey which ushered the Assembly into connection with countries like Mozambique, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, etc. Ps Ndala is succeeded by his mentee, Ps Ndivhuho Ranwedzi since January 2016.

Ps Ranwedzi grew within the ranks of AFM from his days in the AFM Mukula Assembly where he served as Governing Body Secretary from 2000 – 2005. He also served within the AFM Revival Centre - Atteridgeville as a Secretary of the Governing Body, a Youth Pastor and a Co-Pastor.

The Assembly established five Sub-Assemblies (Branches) in the following areas Blackrock, Lotus Gardens, Atteridgeville West, Westview and Atlyn. Some of these Branches are now full Assemblies of the AFM. This includes AFM Family Fellowship – Westview, AFM Fountains of Life- Lotus Gardens and AFM Restoration Centre – Atlyn. Currently, the branches include Blackrock under the leadership of Elder J. Mahlangu and Atteridgeville West under the leadership of Elder J. Matlou.
